Reading this is surprisingly encouraging, thanks. I just became a first time father and it’s INSANE. It’s been hard enough finding the time to read, let alone rev my creative brain into gear to write — although I know that will gradually improve (it already has, slightly).

One thing I’ve found really helpful is starting a journal. It’s something I’d been doing on and off for years but never really gave it a good crack, but since the little one arrived I’ve been really strict with it (which is weird, considering I have way less time and no routine). What it does is allow me to express and organize my scattered thoughts each day, vent all my frustrations and worries, and just feel as if I’m doing something. I’d love to be writing my fiction, but I’m trying not to beat myself up over it at the moment — journalling at least gives me a cathartic outlet.
